Marquee Sporting Events Make Their Way to Las Vegas

This fall and winter, Las Vegas is set to welcome some major sporting events to the city, including the new NBA in-season tournament and the Formula One Last Vegas Grand Prix.

First up is the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which will be the first Formula One race held in the city since the Caesars Palace Grand Prix in 1982. Though that race was held in a parking lot converted to a racetrack and this current iteration will be a night race held on a street circuit that includes the Las Vegas Strip. The rare Saturday night race on November 18th will be the first race held on a Saturday since the 1985 South African Grand Prix. The race will be the first in a ten-year contract that signed between Formula One and the city.

Next up will be the semifinals and final of the NBA’s first in-season tournament on December 7th and 9th at T-Mobile Arena. The in-season tournament features all 30 teams broken out into six groups of five. The top team in each group, as well as the next best team from each conference. Those teams all advance to quarterfinals games played in their home markets before the winners make their way to Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is quickly becoming a major sports town, with the Super Bowl also set to make its way to the city in February 2024.
